DuckDuck Bar is CASH ONLY
It’s Rachel’s birthday!!!
To celebrate, Reclypt is launching our first “Community Menders Club” that’ll roll into a fun Friday night out @ Duckduck Bar (153 Montrose Ave) in Brooklyn starting at 4p!
Whether you’re a Mender or just want to have a fun Friday night, all are welcome! For mending, we encourage you to arrive on the early side, for the party, come whenever!
Grab something from that pile of clothing we've been meaning to mend & join Reclypt’s Menders Club! Participants will complete their projects themselves with help from the Reclypt Community. We can't guarantee we’ll know how to fix it immediately but, we love problem solving and are here to help!
This is a no cost*, no [formal] instruction mending club where participants bring their own projects to work on.
We say ‘no formal instruction’ because we’re not teaching, but our community is experienced in a variety of skills and always willing to help others solve problems.
We say ‘no cost’ because it's free if you bring your own materials.
There is a cost to use the materials we provide:
- Needle
- Thread
- Embroidery floss
- Scissors
- Pins
- Fabric chalk/markers
- Scrap fabric
- Mendables
Examples of what to bring:
- A jacket with a missing a button or two
- Rips/holes in your pants
- Torn tote bag straps
- Embroidering over a stain
- Cropping a shirt
- Knitting/crotchet project are welcome but materials will not be provided
**Let us know what other projects/supplies you would like to work on so we can stock up on **
Why Upcycle?
Why Upcycle?
Upcycling requires a lot less water and energy than buying new and recycling. It decreases textile waste, pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. Overall, the practice of upcycling clothes lowers the demand for new clothing production, which is extremely wasteful and destructive for people and the planet.

What is "Deadstock"?
Basically, any leftover fabric that is not being used. This can be untouched rolls of fabric, cut up fabric, or damaged fabric.
Nonetheless, it typically sits in a warehouse before it is thrown into landfills where it can take a life time to decompose, emitting harmful greenhouses gases as it does.
Also known by a few names, with “overstock”, “surplus fabric”, and “remnant” being the most common.
